EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) released the Northeast Beef MAAC Baseball Weekly Award Winners, which included Jaspers senior infielder Vincent Samuel, who was named Player of the Week, per release on Tuesday afternoon.
"Vincent had an outstanding week and is deserving of this recognition," said Head Coach Steven Rosen.
"What impressed me most wasn't just his production, but the consistency and presence he showed in big moments. He impacted the game in every phase and helped drive our success on the road. He's a veteran player, and I know he'll be right back to work this week as he has been since becoming a Jasper."
Crushing his way through a wicked five games was Samuel, who is amid a five-game hitting streak, combining for 12-for-23 to total a .522 batting average. Samuel has crossed the plate six times through the stretch, notched five doubles, hit the grand slam in the victory against Old Dominion during the week, and posted a whopping 13 RBI.
Samuel also paces the Jaspers with a .452 batting average, where he's logged 14 hits, two home runs, 15 RBI's, with a slugging percentage of .839, walked twice, and has an on-base percentage of .485 through seven games played this season.
Due to "Blizzard '26", the Jaspers' opening game of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore series has been pushed back one day to Saturday, February 28, to a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. The contest can be viewed on YouTube for free.
