UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Lacrosse team (0-1) fell to the Bison of Bucknell University (1-0) inside Holuba Hall on Sunday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After pushing the contest back one day due to extreme weather, Bucknell and Manhattan both agreed to move it back one full day and play inside Penn State University's indoor facility, Holuba Hall, on Sunday evening instead.
- Following the two goals posted by Bucknell to open the campaign for the Jaspers, it was Connor White and Liam Peabody who were both able to capitalize on a pair of Bison turnovers to tie the game at two mid-way through the first quarter.
- On the ensuing possession after Thomas Shoniker picked up the ground ball with three and a half minutes remaining, Aiden Kane found the back of the net to post three unanswered goals for the Green and White, and its first lead of the season.
- The Bison responded with five goals of its own consecutively, midway through the second quarter. Trailing by as much as four, the Jaspers were able to get back on the board once again, with Thomas White landing on the board to stop the bleeding temporarily.
- Into the second half, the Green and White, trailing by four, were able to scoop up a pair of ground balls from Timothy Monzon and Sean Shelko, and eventually find an open stick of Dylan Knapp, who scored the team's fifth goal of the game.
- Just over a minute later, Thomas White found the back of the net for a second time to cut Bucknell's lead to just two.
- The Bison responded with three more goals of its own before Sheklo netted his first of the season and cut the deficit to four at the tail end of the third quarter.
- The Jaspers were unable to capture much momentum through much of the fourth quarter, but put up their eighth goal of the game on a man-up advantage from Connor White with four seconds remaining.
