LAKE PLACID, NY – Manhattan Men's Golf competed in the Columbia Autumn Invitational on Saturday and Sunday from Lake Placid Golf Club.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- One of the lowest rounds as a program for the Jaspers came to fruition in Lake Placid on Saturday afternoon, as Cabell Faulkner paced the Green and White with a two under par performance, good for eighth overall on the day. Faulkner netted two under in the front nine, after totaling seven pars. He completed the first round three under on the afternoon.
- Throughout the round, the Jaspers shot five under, with Louis Vandeputte shooting two under par. Aidan Talent posted a 70, one under par, while Walter Carley registered one over par and a score of 72.
- The first-round total broke the previous record by seven shots for total score, and three shots relative to par from last season's Testudo Cup.
- Manhattan continued right where it left off in the second round as Faulkner continued to pace the Jaspers, highlighted with a 12th hole eagle.
- Five out of the six Jaspers posted birdies on the third hole, which served as a par five in one of the toughest holes on the course.
- On the second day, the Jaspers were once again led by Faulkner who shot even with a couple of birdies, and two under par, while Talent posted four over, good for second on the team.
QUOTES FROM THE JASPERS
Head Coach
Keith Prokop: "We are showing signs of growth. Obviously a historic first day, so we have great potential just need to keep the growth mindset and expand on our golf intellect and we will be in a great spot. For us it's not about how we play in the fall, more about what the tail end of the spring looks like."
