RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Manhattan Men's Basketball Head Coach John Gallagher has announced the addition of freshman guard Asier Miguel on Wednesday afternoon.

"Asier is an exceptional wing player who brings the international experience and shooting versatility we were looking for to elevate our offensive capabilities. His development through Real Madrid's elite youth system has prepared him well for the demands of Division I basketball."
Miguel, the Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain native attended Colegio NILE, where he played high school basketball for four seasons. During that span playing on the U16 Eurobasket circuit, he put together 7.3 points-per-game, while grabbing 5.6 boards-per-game, while obtaining 1.1 assists-per-game, and 2.2 steals per-game.
"As a 6'5" guard/forward, Asier possesses the European fundamentals and basketball IQ that will be crucial in implementing our system. His ability to stretch the floor from three-point range while contributing across multiple statistical categories gives us the versatility we need."
While playing for Real Madrid 2nd Team in the EBA during the 2023-24 season, Miguel put together a campaign that saw 6.5 points-per-game, 2.0 rebounds-per-game, 1.2 assists and steals-per-game. During Miguel's time in the U18 Junior Euroleague, he put together 5.4 points-per-game, 1.3 steals-per-game, and converted 53.3 percent from the field, while tallying a 40.9 three-point percentage.
Miguel led his teams to a pair of Junior Euroleague Championships, while earning a Runner-Up spot on the U16 Eurobasket circuit. Additionally, he was a three-time Spanish Champion.

Miguel will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering in Riverdale beginning this fall.
