7/28/2025 3:52:00 PM

DALLAS, TX – Manhattan Men's Golf incoming Junior Akshay Mandadapu claimed victory in the 2025 Dallas Amateur Championship presented by Omni Hotels and Resorts – Men's Open Division from Cedar Crest Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.

"I was really excited going into the tournament because I had been working hard on my swing technique." described Mandadapu. "The first two rounds felt great I got into a flow, hitting solid shots and giving myself many to make putts."

Starting off the tournament nearly perfect, was Mandadapu who did not sink anything worse than par in the front nine of the first round on Friday afternoon.

The Dallas native concluded the first round with a total of 67 and just one bogey. Mandadapu was one of two golfers to capture a 67 alongside Robert Morris's Peyton Iverson.

Opening the second round on Saturday off the orange tee a little differently was the Lakemary Prep alum, who despite landing birdie on the opening two holes, sank a pair of bogeys as his lone setback throughout the entire second round. Mandadapu performed two strokes better than his first-round finish on Friday. He was the only player in the tournament to land a 65.

Looking to close out the Amateur Championship with hardware, Manadadapu didn't sink home his first birdie until the seventh hole, which came after a bogey and first double-bogey of the tournament.

"The final day was a different story the wind picked up and the conditions got tougher. I found myself at +3 through 11 and could feel the pressure with how tight the leaderboard was getting. I had to take a mental breath, calm myself down, and trust the process."

Not allowing any further mishaps, Manadadapu performed to the maximum on the back-nine with just two bogeys and four additional birdies, which included one on the 18th green to capture the title. The total gross for the Dallas product was a Championship best 202, and finished eight under par, three better than the next best performer in the Tournament.

"Akshay has been on the verge of a performance like this for a while now." Said Head Coach Keith Prokop. "He had a great round one at the MAAC which he self admittedly didn't follow up to our standards. To see him break through like we know he can and was fantastic to see for his progression, it's hard breaking down those mental barriers and I'm so proud to see his growth. The guy is electric."

"My experience at Manhattan University and all the pre game and post game speeches from Coach Prokop really helped me stay cool and composed until that final putt." says Manadadapu.

"He now knows how to do it, that's step one. We will continue to reflect to allow him more opportunities of this success." says Prokop.
