RIVERDALE, NY– Former Manhattan Jaspers' pitcher Joe Jacques '18 has signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets on Tuesday.

"We're incredibly proud of Joe and what this moment represents for both him and Manhattan Baseball," said Head Coach Steven Rosen.

"Joe's journey is a reminder of what hard work, perseverance, and belief in yourself can lead to — especially coming from a program that continues to grow the way ours has. His signing with the Mets, an organization tied closely to the Cohen Foundation, makes this even more special for everyone connected to Manhattan University. It's a full-circle moment that highlights the direction our program is heading and the type of people we strive to develop."

Jacques, a former Jasper standout who played for the Baseball program from 2014 to 2018, was drafted in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates in Round 33 and selected with pick #984 overall.

Throughout his Minor League Baseball career, spanning five organizations, Jacques has compiled 19 victories and a lifetime ERA of 4.19 across 243 games, including six starts. The Shrewsbury, NJ native also supplied 10 saves in 316.0 innings pitched, while posting 304 strikeouts.

In 2025, with the Oklahoma City Comets, AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Tacoma Rainiers, AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, Jacques pitched in 47 games with one start, posting a 3-1 win-loss record in 52.1 innings, allowing 64 hits and recording 61 punchouts.

Jacques made his Major League debut with the Boston Red Sox on June 12, 2023, against the Colorado Rockies, when he faced one batter in relief of Nick Pivetta before a rain delay spoiled any further opportunities.

So far, Jacques has appeared in 25 games combined with the Boston Red Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks, including one start for the Sox, and was successful in his one save opportunity in the same campaign. Jacques has pitched in 29.2 innings, surrendered 38 hits, and has logged 22 strikeouts.

While donning the Green and White, Jacques logged an overall earned-run-average of 4.04, with 12 wins in 38 games started and three complete games. He also added three saves in 251.2 innings pitched through five seasons and struck out 206 batters in Riverdale.

Manhattan Baseball opens its 2026 season at the Puerto Rico Challenge for three games, taking on Indiana State, Seton Hall, and the University of Houston on Valentine's Day Weekend.
