The Manhattan College men's basketball program is excited to announce the addition of Devin Dinkins to the 2024-25 roster. Dinkins is a 5'10 point guard who transferred from George Mason after having played 31 career games for the Patriots.
"This is a very big get for us," said Manhattan head coach John Gallagher. "Devin was a heralded guard out of high school who was injured last year. He gives us great depth in the backcourt."
As a freshman during the 2022-23 season, Dinkins totaled 95 points in 31 games, which included four starts for the native of Washington, D.C. He also shot 33.3 percent (16-48) from three-point range and 74.2 percent (23-31) from the free throw line. At George Mason, Dinkins joined a group of guards that included Victor Bailey Jr., Ronald Polite III, and DeVon Cooper who were all double-digit scorers during the 2022-23 season. The Patriots finished that season 20-13 overall and 11-7 in Atlantic 10 play before losing in the A-10 quarterfinals as a No. 5 seed to No. 4 Saint Louis.
Dinkins did not appear in any games in the 2023-24 season due to suffering a back injury. He will have three years of eligibility starting in the 2024-25 season.
Coming out of Gonzaga High School in Washington DC, Dinkins was regarded as a three-star prospect by 247 Sports and was ranked by the recruiting outlet as the No. 40 point guard in the Class of 2022. Dinkins held offers from Virginia, Georgetown, Penn State, Virginia Tech, DePaul, Tulsa, La Salle, and Bryant.
"I have an affinity for small guards because they've always been little and they've always found a way to have success," Kim English once said of Dinkins. "I just think speed is a great equalizer in our game."
In his senior season at Gonzaga, Dinkins averaged 17.8 points per game, 3.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals. As a sophomore, Dinkins helped lead Gonzaga to a 25-10 record, top-50 valuations in the national rankings, and a District of Columbia State Athletic Association title. Dinkins played alongside plenty of talent at Gonzaga, including Myles Stute (Vanderbilt/South Carolina), Chuck Harris (Butler/SMU), Terrance Williams II (Michigan) and Malcolm Dread (Richmond/Mount St. Mary's).
"He is another dynamic guard for our program," said Gallagher.
