RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Former Manhattan Jasper Brendan Bank will be representing the Jaspers as a member of Team Israel at the 2023 World Lacrosse Championships.
Bank is the second Jasper that will be playing in the world championships.
Tadhg O'Riordan is playing for Ireland.
The 2023 World Lacrosse Championships will be held in San Diego. Playoffs start June 27, with the Gold Medal Match scheduled for Saturday, July 1, at 4 p.m.
Bank spent his graduate year with the Jaspers after spending four years at Furman. In 2021, Bank was a key member of the Jaspers' defense as the Jaspers advanced to the MAAC Title Game against Monmouth. Bank recorded 16 groundballs and caused 11 turnovers while appearing in all 10 games for Manhattan.
Israel is in Pool C with the Philippines, Czech Republic, Sweden, and Puerto Rico. Pool play starts for Israel on Thursday, June 22, against Sweden at 10 a.m. pacific.
ESPN will carry every game of the championships. ESPN2 will air the opening match, semifinals and Gold Medal Game. ESPNU will carry the Bronze Medal Game and the quarterfinal match involving the USA if they advance. All other games can be found on ESPN+.
