RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Three Jaspers from Manhattan women's lacrosse earned All-MAAC honors, as announced by the league office on Friday.
Andrea Liotta was unanimously selected First Team All-MAAC on defense.
Julianna Iovine earned Second Team All-MAAC honors at midfield.
Emily Derrico was named Second Team All-MAAC at the at-large/specialist position. It is the second straight season that Liotta has collected unanimous first-team honors.
Liotta played an integral part in the Jaspers' defense. The senior led the Jaspers in ground balls (34) and caused turnovers (21). The Glenwood Landing, N.Y. native leads the team and is third in the MAAC in draw controls (74), averaging 4.63 per game. Liotta picked up 102 ground balls and 209 draw controls in her four years at Manhattan. This season, Liotta picked up at least one ground ball and one draw control in 15 of the 16 games she played.
Iovine led the Jaspers in assists (15) and finished with 27 goals and 42 points, including the game-winner in the season opener against Sacred Heart in overtime. The junior was third in draw controls with 41. The Brentwood, Tenn. native started all 17 games this season, scoring at least one goal in 16. Iovine's best game this season was against FDU on February 18, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists.
Derrico ended the regular season second in draw controls (47) for the Jaspers and on a per-game basis (2.76). The second-year Jasper secured a season-high of eight draw controls against Quinnipiac on April 8.
