Women's Lacrosse Honors Nine Seniors Against Siena

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Manhattan Jaspers women's lacrosse team (3-14, 2-6 MAAC), following a pregame ceremony honoring nine seniors, fell in their final game against the Saints from Siena (10-6, 5-3 MAAC) by a final score of 19-4 at Gaelic Park on Saturday afternoon.

Maya Metz, Naomi Aristone, Colleen Rattigan, Catie Edson, Ellie Provda, Brooke Leonard, Lauren Maher, Julia Harvey, and Sophia Pasnak were all honored for their careers as a Jasper pregame.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Siena piled on the first three goals by the seven minute mark, each scored by a different visitor.
  • Granted a free position opportunity, Ella Brunette took advantage and put the Green and White on the board with just under six minutes to play in the first quarter.
  • The road team picked up two more before the end of the first 15 minutes, holding a four goal edge.
  • After adding six to their first quarter total, Siena relinquished another score off a free position chance, this time coming off the stick of Lauren Maher just before the halftime break.
  • Coming out of the locker room down by double digits, Brunette netted her second of the game 37 seconds into the start of the second half.
  • Offense slowed in the third frame, with the Saints taking a 14-3 margin into the final 15 minutes.
  • For the second straight quarter, Manhattan struck first to begin the fourth, as Maher also found her second of the afternoon.
  • The Saints controlled the offensive zone for much of the fourth quarter, securing their fifth MAAC win.

STATS AND NOTES

  • Senior attacker Lauren Maher and Freshman midfielder Ella Brunette each scored two of the Jaspers' four goals. Maher's assist on one of Brunette's goals gave her the game lead in points with three.
  • Junior defender Meghan Dwan collected the most ground balls with two.
  • Redshirt Junior defender Julia Harvey caused the most turnovers with two.
  • Junior midfielder Audrey Ziff won the most draw controls with four.
  • Redshirt Junior goalkeeper Sophie Pasnak logged eight saves through a full 60 minutes.
