RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan women's swimming and diving team finished the fourth and final day of the MAAC Championships in ninth with 150 points. The Jasper women set three school records on Saturday.
Fairfield won the women's team title with 609 points, edging Niagara by four.
The highest placement in prelims for the Jaspers today was achieved by
Abbey Mink, settling in fifth in the 100-yard freestyle. Mink touched the wall at 52.51, earning her a spot with the A group for the finals. Mink's prelim time established a new school record. In the finals, Mink placed seventh with the A group (52.86). Mink was only .17 seconds behind Fairfield in sixth.
Kyla Guilfoil placed 12th in the 200-yard backstroke prelims with a time of 2:08.00, qualifying her for the B final. In the finals, Guilfoil finished 10th with the B group, at 2:07.63, .34 seconds faster than her prelim, earning seven points for Manhattan. Guilfoil's 2:07.63 sets a new Manhattan record.
For the relay races, the women placed seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:33.06, earning the Jaspers 24 points. The team included Guilfoil,
Shayna Millard, Mink, and
Mackenzie Tuttle. That time also set a new school record.
"We had a great weekend of swimming with lots of personal bests and a number of school records. Our performance lays the groundwork for some exciting program growth in the future" said coach Eric Rasmussen when asked about the performance at the MAAC Championships.
