RIVERDALE, N.Y. – For the second time this season,
Ava Metzger has collected weekly honors from the MAAC. Tuesday, Metzger was named co-pitcher and rookie of the week.
It is the second time this season that the first year Jasper has earned rookie of the week honors.
Metzger tossed a complete-game shutout against St. John's on March 22 in a 2-0 Manhattan win. Against the Red Storm, Metzger struck out nine and scattered five hits over seven innings. It was the second win in as many appearances for the Colts Neck, N.J. native, and the right-hander's first career shutout.
Manhattan is back in action on Wednesday at Columbia on ESPN+. This weekend, the Jaspers return to Gaelic Park with doubleheaders against Seton Hall on Saturday and Siena on Sunday.
