Manhattan is coming off a season that saw it finish in fourth place at last year's MAAC Championship and have been selected in the preseason poll to finish in the same position.
"The team is really excited to get the indoor season started. While our cross country team has been competing since September, our track and field student-athletes have been patiently waiting for this opportunity and training hard in preparation," said Director of Track and Field
Kerri Gallagher. "We have some good talent across the board and we are looking forward to showcasing our hard work throughout the season in preparation for the MAAC."
Rider, last year's runner-up, was selected to as the preseason favorite for this season, garnering all eight first-place votes.
One runner to keep an eye on this year is transfer middle-distance specialist
Johnelle Joe, who joined the Jaspers after running at University of Oklahoma. While at Oklahoma, Joe scored at the Big XII Championship, coming in seventh with a PR time of 1:52.04.
On the field side,
RJ Decker will once again represent the Green and White as a thrower and will look to build on his strong season last year, which included him being undefeated until the ECAC Meet, in which he came in third. Decker finished the indoor season with a total of six wins, all coming in succession.
Cross country standout
Michael Hennelly will once again run distance events in the track season. He is coming off a strong senior campaign in the cross country season and will run the 3k in the first meet of the 2022-2023 season.
The Jaspers will look to take home the Metropolitan Championship title once again after claiming it last year.
This weekend, the Green and White will have 23 different Jaspers competing in the first meet of the season competing in a wide range of events both on the track and the field.
