Riverdale, NY – Manhattan Head Coach
Jorden Scott has named Andrew Santos as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming season.
No stranger to Riverdale, Santos was one of Scott's first recruits at Manhattan, and played four years for the Jaspers before graduating in 2015. He helped lead the Green & White to the MAAC Championship match as a freshman in 2011, and a berth in the semifinals as a junior while helping set the culture and foundation for the future of the program.
At Manhattan, Santos will be responsible for team training, recruitment, and operations and marketing on all areas. He will also be heavily involved with alumni events and communication as the program continues to build the support that has given so much in recent years.
Santos has spent the past seven years at the FC Copa Academy under the guidance and leadership of Roberto Aguas and Lori Berman. FC Copa is an elite soccer program based out of in Metuchen, New Jersey, where Santos has spent the last five years as the Director of Operations and one of their top coach's.
During his time with FC Copa, he has led his teams to a pair of New Jersey State Cup finals, been instrumental in the development of players that have gone to play for the Red Bulls, CSA MLS, PDA MLS and TSF MLS Academies, as well as several ODP State and Regional players. He was also a leader in their operations and marketing channels, something he will also focus on at Manhattan.
"This is a very special moment for Andrew and his family as he returns to our program with a wealth of experience and a hunger to help us achieve our goals," said Scott. "It is a proud moment for myself as it truly speaks to yet another example of what you can achieve beyond college with the knowledge that you gain when you are here. Andrew is someone I trust and believe that his skills and knowledge will develop our players and help grow our program. We should all celebrate this moment as one of our own leads our team again."
Santos, who lives in Garfield, NJ, graduated from Manhattan in 2015 with a degree in communications and a minor in digital arts media, currently holds a USSF Coaching 'C' license and is pursuing his 'B' license.
