Three former Jaspers have received their professional assignments for the 2021 Minor League Baseball Season.

LHP Joe Jacques (Pittsburgh Pirates) and catcher Fabian Pena (San Francisco Giants) will start 2021 in Triple-A, while LHP Tom Cosgrove (San Diego Padres) will begin in Double-A.

Jacques, who was selected in the 33rd round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Pirates, starts his third professional season with the Indianapolis Indians in the Midwest Division of the newly formed Triple-A East.

In 2019, Jacques went 4-4 with a 2.58 ERA and 59 strikeouts over 66.1 innings of action over three levels.

Pena, who was tabbed in the 25th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Giants, will kick off his third season in the professional ranks with the Sacramento River Cats in the West Division of the newly formed Triple-A West.

In 2019, he hit .222 with 13 doubles, four home runs and 16 RBI at High-A San Jose.

Cosgrove, who was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Padres, is starting the season with the San Antonio Missions of the newly formed Double-A Central League, in the South Division.

Two years ago, he was 1-4 with a 5.45 ERA and 33 strikeouts over 33.0 innings while pitching primarily for the High-A High Desert Mavericks before being sidelined due to injury.
