Decker Named USATF New York Athlete Of The Month

New York, NY - Manhattan track and field freshman Robert Decker (Otisville, NY / Minisink Valley) was named an August Athlete of the Month by USATF New York on September 15. Decker, a nationally ranked thrower, was recognized as the region's top high school athlete in his final month prior to joining the Jaspers' program. 

This past month, Decker won three hammer throw events, the New York Hammer Summer Series #3 (62.97 meters), the 12th Rock Throws Series #5 (65.03 meters) and the 12th Rock Throws Series #6 (62.24 meters). At the New York Hammer Summer Series #2 on July 26, he placed second with a 65.67-meter performance. 

Decker made a name for himself his senior year at Minisink, ranking in the nation's top 10 for the hammer throw and rising to as high as sixth with a 211'7" performance. He is also a New York State Section IX weight throw champion.

Decker is joined on this month's USATF New York honors list by Hoka NJNYTC runner Colby Alexander (Open), Central Park TC - Tracksmith runner Judy Stobbe (Masters) and Julia Magliaro, a youth thrower.
