Riverdale, NY - Pelham Country Club Assistant Golf Professional
Phil Wildermuth has been named Head Coach of the Manhattan College golf team as announced by Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Marianne Reilly.
"I am honored to be given the opportunity to represent Manhattan College and lead the Jaspers," said Wildermuth. "I look forward to providing our young men a distinctive environment to develop their skills at Manhattan while being a part of a highly competitive program."
Wildermuth arrives with 16 years of experience as a professional in New York, spending the last 10 years at Pelham Country Club. During that time, he has instructed junior clinics and camps, coordinated PGA and Pelham junior leagues and offered private lessons to a wide range of golfers.
"We are excited to announce Phil as the next coach of our golf team," said Reilly. "His vast regional and national experience make him a perfect fit for our program."
Additionally, with Wildermuth's appointment, Manhattan will use Pelham Country Club, along with other public and private clubs throughout the Metropolitan area.
"With Phil's extensive knowledge of the courses and their proximity to the campus, it will enhance both the level of play and experience for our golfers," said Reilly.
Prior to his time in Pelham, Wildermuth was the Centennial Golf Club assistant professional in Carmel, NY for five years.
Wildermuth got his start at New Mexico State in 2000, working as the tournament coordinator for the Pro Golf Management (PGM) office.
As a player, Wildermuth medaled at the 2013 Westchester Open and 2004 New York State Open qualifiers, and he currently competes in Met section and national events.
A Class 'A' PGA member, Wildermuth is certified in FlightScope, Eyeline, Tour Roll and as a U.S. Kids instructor. He graduated from New Mexico State with a bachelor's degree in marketing/PGM in 2002.
Manhattan has finished in third place at the MAAC Championship in each of the past two seasons after registering a program-best second-place finish in 2016.
