Eugene, OR - Manhattan's
Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia / Gimazija Jesenice) will compete in the men's discus event at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, OR on Friday, June 8. Competition will begin at 8 p.m. eastern time and will be
live streamed on ESPN3.
The field performer, who graduated from Manhattan this past May, qualified for the discus throw national championship after finishing 12th at the NCAA East Regionals on Friday, May 25 in Tampa, FL. Bozovicar's qualifying distance of 53.81 meters was approximately one meter under his collegiate personal best of 54.83 meters, recorded at the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where he was the top performer.
Bozovicar is the first thrower on
Friday's start list, competing against 11 other throwers in the first flight and 23 overall. The nine best performers will advance to the final round. Ole Miss' Brian Williams holds the highest seed mark in the event at 60.34 meters, followed by Reno Tuufuli from Iowa at 60.01 meters.
