Kaishian Participates In 2017 World Cup Festival

Surrey, England – Emma Kaishian (Yorktown, NY) of the Manhattan College women's lacrosse team was a member of the USA D1 Elite squad that won a silver medal at the 2017 World Cup Festival at Surrey Sports Park.  The event was held from July 17-21 in conjunction with the FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup, which took place at the same venue.

Competing in the Open division, the D1 Elite team posted a 10-1-1 record, with its only loss coming against England in the finals.  There were also teams from Germany, Wales, Ireland and Japan, as well as two other American squads made of Division III players.  The D1 Elite team was composed of players primarily from the Northeast and coached by Siena Head Coach Bryana Borrelli.

Kaishian, who was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Second Team in 2017, played defense throughout the tournament, appearing in all 12 games.  She also contributed on the offensive end, notching a goal and four assists.

She got the chance to do plenty of sightseeing, as well.  In addition to touring Oxford and Windsor Castle, Kaishian had the opportunity to visit some of London's biggest attractions, such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye.  She also attended a number of World Cup games, including the USA-England semifinal and the championship game between the United States and Canada (which was won by the U.S.).

"My experience in England is one I'll never forget," Kaishian said.  "I had some of the most fun I've had playing an amazing sport with some incredible athletes.  It was an honor to represent the U.S. and Manhattan on an international level."
