Riverdale, NY - The Manhattan College men's soccer team celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the program on Saturday, September 30 with festivities that were befitting of the program's rich history.

From members of the inaugural varsity team such as Dennis Clancey '68 and Peter Tanaka '68, to recent graduates like
Tommy Amos '15 and Josh Binfield '16, alumni returned to Riverdale to celebrate with their former teammates and coaches, as well as with teammates spanning multiple generations. The day started with an Alumni Day tradition: the Green and White Alumni Game. Check out the photo gallery by clicking

Following the conclusion of the Alumni Game, the spotlight returned to the 2017 rendition of the Jaspers. Head Coach
Jorden Scott and company hosted Marist in their MAAC home opener. With the help from a raucous crowd of Jasper alumni, Manhattan rolled to a 5-0 shutout for their second straight win in conference play.

The celebration concluded with a banquet to commemorate the 50 years of Jasper soccer. Members of the Manhattan Athletics Hall of Fame such as Tom Lindgren '78, Bo Kucyna '81, Luis Custodio '82 and future-inductee Robert Schimpf '72 were among over 150 guests that attended. Before the event began, former members of Jasper soccer spoke about the event, reminisced about their times as Jaspers and their thoughts on celebrating 50 years of the program. Christian Heimall was the master of ceremonies during the dinner. The event included videos from current men's soccer captains
Jose Meza and
Joe Hulme reflecting on their tenure with the team, and testimonials from three members of the original team to talk about the memories they shared from that team and the growth of the program today.

Nonie Wanger, the wife of Manhattan soccer's first head coach, Manfred Wanger, spoke to the audience about Manfred's legacy and the evolution of the program in the last 50 years. The four Hall of Famers reflected on their journeys in a Q&A panel. Finally, Coach Scott made his closing remarks on the celebration and the future of Manhattan College men's soccer.
