RIVERDALE, NY – Junior Kayla Grimme (Altoona, PA) of the women's basketball team and sophomore Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ) of the men's indoor track & field squad have been chosen as this week's ATAX Manhattan College Student-Athletes of the Week. They were recognized for their performances from Jan. 16-22.
Grimme turned in back-to-back 20-point performances against Iona and Saint Peter's. She averaged a double-double (22.5 pts, 10.0 reb) in the two games. Against Iona on Friday night, Grimme posted a career-high 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting while also notching nine boards, three assists and two blocks. She then bettered that mark with a 24-point effort in the 69-65 victory at Saint Peter's on Sunday. Grimme went 10-for-19 from the field and added 11 rebounds to complete her third double-double of the season. She shot 57.6 percent (19-of-33) from the floor, including 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from three-point range, in the two games.
Addlesberger won the shot put with a season-best toss of 17.07 meters (56 feet) at the Penn 8-Team Select on Saturday night. That throw was nearly a meter better than the second-place finisher's top mark. In fact, his second-best effort of 16.49 m (54'1¾) also would've won the competition. Addlesberger was also named Metro Athletic Conference (MAAC) Field Performer of the Week.
