Santisteban Named 2015 PGCBL Player of the Year

Elmira Pioneers Release

Elmira, NY -
Rising senior Christian Santisteban (Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep) has been named as the 2015 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) Player of the Year after turning in an outstanding season for the Elmira Pioneers.

Santisteban led Elmira to its first West Division title, finishing second in the circuit with a .377 average while also ranking third in home runs (6) and second in RBI (38).

Outside of the Triple Crown categories, Santisteban led the PGCBL in hits (58), OBP (.532), slugging (.591), OPS (1.123) and walks (43) while ranking third in runs (41) and sixth in doubles (11).

On the Sabermetric side of things, Santisteban “created” 46.655 runs, which were 10 more than the next closest player.

Santisteban was key in getting the Pioneers an early lead in the West Division, which they ended up winning by six games over the Victor RailRiders. Going into July, he was hitting .457 with a 1.291 OPS after starting the year on an 18-game hitting streak before finishing up with hits in 42 of Elmira's first 47 games.
