RIVERDALE, NY – Drew Kelleher has been tabbed as the Manhattan head men's lacrosse coach by Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Noah D. LeFevre.
"I could not be more excited to join the Manhattan College community," said Kelleher.
"After meeting Noah and everyone in the athletic department, I know it will be a great place to coach. I'd like to thank everyone at Boston University, especially Director of Athletics Drew Marrochello and head coach Ryan Polley." Kelleher arrives at Manhattan after serving as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Boston University for the last two seasons. Kelleher's time in Boston coincided with the program's start, which saw a meteoric rise for the Terriers from infancy to a national ranking last year.
“In a short period of time Drew has demonstrated that he is a top level lacrosse coach,” said LeFevre.
“He quickly rose to the top of a very competitive list of former and current head college coaches that were interested in the opportunity at Manhattan College. Coach Kelleher has also proven himself to be a prolific recruiter in the highly competitive Patriot League and we are very excited to have him join us at Manhattan.” Serving as offensive coordinator for the Boston U offense, his unit produced a three-goal spike to just over 10 per game from the program's inaugural season while winning six games and ascending to No. 19 in the National Rankings following an 18-11 win over Bucknell.
Additionally, he helped develop three student-athletes into 20-goal and 40-point performers a year ago while overseeing an attack that netted at least 10 goals in 10 of the Terriers' 20 games.
Prior to ushering in the Boston U program, Kelleher spent the 2012 season as an assistant coach/offensive coordinator at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival Siena. During his one year in Loudonville, he helped the Saints to an 11-5 record and the MAAC Regular Season Title while helping spearhead the nation's fourth-ranked offensive attack at over 12 goals per game.
Kelleher began his coaching career at Hamilton College, helping the Continentals to a 21-7 record from 2010-2011.
A four-year standout at Vermont, he capped his outstanding career with the Catamounts by ranking 11th nationally in goals (2.50) as a senior in 2009 en route to being named the America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year.
Kelleher is no stranger to the Manhattan community as his mother Jeanne was a member of the college's first female graduating class in 1978 while his father Dan graduated in 1977 and his grandfather Daniel played basketball for the Jaspers from 1930-1932.
