RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan College senior Mohamed Koita (Cergy, France) was one of 16 athletes chosen to compete in the men's high jump at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. This is the second time, and the first time indoors, that Koita has qualified for the NCAA meet. He was a Second Team All-American in the event outdoors in 2013.
His school-record jump of 2.20 meters (seven feet, 2½ inches) at the Draddy Invitational on Feb. 15 was the 13th-best mark in the NCAA this season. Koita also owned the previous school record of 2.19 m (7'2¼), which he set at the Brother Jasper Invitational on Dec. 15.
The men's high jump will be held at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, March 14.
Koita is the first Manhattan athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships since shot putter Milan Jotanovic made consecutive appearances in 2008-09. The Jaspers won the team title in 1973 for Manhattan's only National Championship in any sport.
