Love Litzell Named ECAC Athlete of the Week

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Freshman Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) of the Manhattan College men's track & field team was selected as the Corvaris ECAC Division I Metro/Upstate Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week on Thursday.  He shared the honors with Princeton's Tom Hopkins and Thomas Carr of Rutgers.

Litzell, who was also chosen as MAAC Performer of the Week, finished second overall and first among collegians in the hammer throw at the Shamrock Invitational from Coastal Carolina University last weekend.  With a toss of 61.18 meters (200 feet, nine inches), he qualified for the IC4A Championships and put himself into a position to also qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the event.

He's the second Jasper to earn ECAC Athlete of the Week honors this season.  Mohamed Koita (Cergy, France) was recognized during the indoor season on Feb. 20.

Litzell is part of Manhattan's contingent that will be competing in the ASU Invitational this weekend.  The men's hammer throw is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on Friday.  The Jaspers will also be competing at the FDU Knight Invitational on Saturday.
