RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion Manhattan baseball team will host Hofstra (8-9) on Wednesday for the Jaspers home opener at Van Cortlandt Park with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. Manhattan returns to Riverdale after a grueling 16-game season opening road series as it played some of the top programs on the east coast.
The Jaspers look to pick up where they left off the last two seasons posting a 26-2 (.929) mark at Van Cortlandt Park. Manhattan College Student Activities will host a pre-game tailgate gathering at the field one hour before with snacks and beverages to kick off the home opener.
Manhattan (2-14) enters its contest with the Pride coming off a 13-11 victory over Big East member West Virginia on Sunday. Junior centerfielder Anthony Vega went 3-for-5 from the plate with three RBI and two runs scored to help the Jaspers get past the Mountaineers. Freshman outfielder Aidan O'Leary also posted three hits with a triple; he knocked in two runs and scored three times, while junior pitcher John Soldinger secured the win with his ninth career save.
