RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College freshman forward Shayna Ericksen (Hackettstown, N.J.) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week. Ericksen averaged 14.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in contests against Cornell and Fairleigh Dickinson last week.
Against Cornell on Tuesday night, Ericksen tallied a career-high 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting. She also had a team-high six rebounds, two assists and three steals against the Big Red. Ericksen then recorded her first career double-double against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday. She finished with 12 points to go along with a career-high 11 rebounds, while also posting two assists, two steals and the first two blocks of her career against the Knights.
Ericksen has started each of the first four games and currently leads the Jaspers in rebounding with an average of 7.0 per contest.
Manhattan (1-3) returns to action with the annual "Battle of the Bronx" at rival Fordham (4-1) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
