FISHKILL, N.Y. - Manhattan outfielder Kevin Nieto and Mark Onorati were each named to the 2010 MAAC All-Tournament Team as announced on Friday at the conclusion of the championship at Dutchess Stadium. Nieto and Onorati each blasted key ninth inning home runs in the Jaspers' 6-5 comeback victory over Marist on Thursday.
Nieto, a three time All-MAAC First Team honoree, hit .538 (7-for-13), posted a .846 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage over the Jaspers' three tournament games. The senior from Miami will be remembered for his game-tying solo home run with one out in the ninth inning, which propelled Manhattan to its victory over Marist. Nieto led the Jaspers with three runs; he drove in two runs and recorded a stolen base.
Onorati smashed two home runs during the tournament and he led the Jaspers with four RBI. He registered a .786 slugging percentage starting all three games in left field. The junior from Williston Park, N.Y. began Manhattan's memorable ninth inning rally in the triumph over the Red Foxes on Thursday with a solo home run.
Manhattan completed its fifth consecutive 30+ win season with a 31-20 overall record. The Jaspers eliminated from the double elimination tournament with a 6-5 loss to Canisius on Friday.
