Riverdale, N.Y. -- Three Manhattan College women's lacrosse players have been named to the MAAC Pre-Season Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team, the MAAC announced today. Meanwhile, the Lady Jaspers were picked to finish fourth in the MAAC, as determined by a vote of the conference's seven head coaches.
Named to the MAAC Pre-season All Conference Team were senior midfielder Keri Morrison, sophomore midfielder Chrissy Gutenberger and senior attacker Caralyn Hickey.
Morrison last season was named to the All-MAAC Second team and was named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team. Gutenberger last season came on the scene and instantly became on of the top players in the region, being named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and named to the All-MAAC First Team. She led the MAAC last season with 4.33 points per game and was second in the conference in goals per game with 3.40 per contest. Hickey, who was named to last season's All-MAAC Second Team, posted 45 goals to rank second on the team in 2009.
In the coach's poll, Manhattan garnered 28 pointsl, finishing behind conference defending champion Fairfield (picked to finish first with 48 points), Canisius (39 points) and Marist (34 points).
Manhattan will open its season February 20 and 21 when it travels to Louisville to take on the University of Louisville at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sacred Heart University at noon on Sunday.
