Varieur Captures Two Wins, but Men's Swim Team Loses to Fairfield 174-74

Swim Teams Culminate Busy Weekend By Honoring Seniors

Riverdale, N.Y. -- The men's and women's swim teams had a busy weekend at their home pool at Riverdale Country School.  Friday, in a double-dual meet, the men's team topped NJIT 54-38 but was edged by Bridgeport 48-45, while the women's team defeated NJIT 49-37 and lost to Bridgeport 50-44.  On Saturday, where both the women's and men's team had their seniors honored, the women lost to Saint Peter's College 99-85, while the men were defeated 90-87.

Friday's highlights included the breaking of a school record in the men's 400 medley relay, with Matt Kaftanski, Christopher Parker, Michael Ruddy and Robert Varieur swimming the race in 3:51.25.  On the women's side Friday, Lady Jasper sophomore Bridget Latino was a triple winner.

On Saturday, a highlight was the honoring of the seniors on both the men's and women's team, including Adam Sopko, James McCue, Nick LaBanca, Matt Kaftanski and Jonah Brock on the men's side and Catherine Chan, Megan Goldrick and Kellie Monaco on the women's side.
