PING!Baseball Preseason Collegiate All-American Teams
RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College senior outfielder Kevin Nieto was named to the 2010 PING!Baseball Preseason All-America Third Team as announced on Monday. It marks the second All-America Team the three time All-MAAC selection has been named to this preseason. Nieto is the only student-athlete from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to receive such honors.
Nieto, a product from Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, led all of Division I last season with 1.57 runs per game. Nieto hit a team-best .396 as he helped guide the Jaspers to their second consecutive MAAC Regular-Season Championship. He also led the MAAC in runs scored (72), slugging percentage (.754), and ranked in the top-5 for triples (2nd - 6), on-base percentage (2nd - .480), batting average (2nd - .396), stolen bases (3rd - 25), home runs (t-4th - 13) and total bases (4th - 141). Nieto broke the MAAC's single season runs record and the program's triples record en route to his second consecutive All-MAAC First Team selection.
Manhattan opens the 2010 campaign on Feb. 26 at Miami.
