Continuing her successful summer track and field season, Manhattan College alum Aliann Pompey (Manhattan '99) took the gold medal in the women's 400 meter run at the Atletica Mondiale international meet held in this weekend in Padova, Italy. She won in a time of 51.40 seconds.
Not willing to rest on those laurels, Pompey left early this morning for the Gateshead Grand Prix Meet in England and competed with little rest this afternoon, finishing third in 52.33 seconds in very windy conditions.
With her performances, Pompey still retains her 10th place standing in the IAAF world ranking standards in the women's 400m. She is planning to compete in the Ivo Van Damme Memorial meet in Brussels on Friday.
