Manhattan College shot putter Milan Jotanovic and Jasper hammer thrower Seid Mujanovic have both moved onto the final round of their respective events at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships being held in Fayetteville, Ark.
Jotanovic, a Manhattan senior, qualified for the final round today by placing fourth in the shot put event preliminaries with a mark of 19.04 meters. He came into the event seeded third. The final round of the shot put will take place tomorrow at 6:15 (central time). Ryan Whiting, an Arizona States, garnered first place in the prelims with a mark of 20.91m.
Mujanovic, a Jasper junior, ranked 14th out of 25 competitors coming into the NCAA National Championships, but surpassed that seeding expectation today by placing eighth in the preliminary hammer throw round. Mujanovic's best throw today was 64.59 meters, or 211.11 feet. He will take part in the hammer throw finals Friday at 1 p.m. (central time). LSU's Walter Henning took first in the prelims with a 68.91m mark.
