Three Manhattan Swimming Records Broken On Last Day of MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships in Baltimore

Three Manhattan College swimmers broke team records records on the final day of the MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships held Saturday at the Mangione Aquatics Center at Loyola College in Baltimore.  Freshman Bridget Latino broke the 200 yard fly record in the morning and then broke it again in the evening.  Overall, as a team, the women's and men's teams both finished ninth overall in the competition.

Latino lowered her own record in the 200 fly in the morning preliminaries with a swim of 2:13.86 (her previous record was 2:14.88).  That time was an ECAC “B” qualifying time.  Then in the evening finals, she bettered the record again, posting an ECAC "A" qualifying time of 2:11.59.

Saturday's competition also found Catherine Chan breaking the 100 yard freestyle school record with a time of 55.90.  That topped the old record of 56.33 set by Maura McGowan in 2006).  And ? on the men's side -- a record was set by Matt Kaftanski in only his second time ever swimming the 200 backstroke.  He posted a school record breaking time of 2:06.56, topping the old by John McGuire '81 of 2:06.76

During the three days of the meet, Lady Jasper swimmers broke six school records and also attained three ECAC “A” cuts and three ECAC “B” times.  The men's team broke two school records.
