Riverdale, N.Y -- Heading into the MAAC Indoor Championships next weekend, several Manhattan College track and field athletes were standouts Thursday at a tri-meet with Fordham University and Southern Connecticut State University at Draddy Gymnasium, which also included some unattached and track club athletes.
The top performances on the afternoon came from:
- Lady Jasper junior Malin Marmbrandt, who grabbed first in the women's long jump with a 5.81m mark and who finished second ? behind Manhattan alum Tiina Magi ? in the triple jump with a mark of 11.93m, which was an ECAC qualifying mark and a mark that leads the MAAC performance list.
- Freshman Albert Johnson, who took gold in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.27m and was second in the triple jump with a 14.49 mark. He finished behind Manhattan teammate Kosta Randjic, who grabbed first with a 15.26m mark.
- Tara Downing, who placed first in the women's 55m dash in 7.30
- Aedan McDonough, who was first in the men's 55m dash in 6.30, just ahead of RaShawn Chung who ran a 6.40s.
- Roman Ewald, who took gold in the men's shot put with a personal best 16.28m mark, which ranks him first on the MAAC Conference performance list.
- Seid Mujanovic, who took third (but was the first collegiate performer) in the men's weight throw with a 18.75 mark. Manhattan alum Jake Freeman took first in the event with a seasonal world leading mark of 24.48m, his first ever more than 80 foot toss.
On the women's side, other top performers on the women's side were: Ritchlyn Mohammed, who was second in the 200m dash in 28.30; Diane Struter, who took second in the weight throw with a 14.51 toss and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 8.28m; Erin Morrison, who took third in the shot put with a 9.75m mark; Alexandra MacDougall, who finished third in the pole vault with a 3.05m mark; and Kristi Krull, who placed third in triple jump with a 11.21m personal best
On the men's side, other top performers included: Jamie Spataro with a second place finish in the long jump with a 6.84 mark and RaShawn Chung, with a second place finish in the 55m dash in 6.40.
