Manhattan College Names Walter Olsewski Head Coach of New Men's Swim Team; Daniel Malone Named Assistant Coach of Men's and Women's Swim Team

RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? Walter Olsewski, who is entering his 11th year as the head coach the women's swim team at Manhattan College, has also been named head coach of a new men's swim team being unveiled at the school, according to Jasper Athletic Director Robert Byrnes.

 

Olsewski racked up his 100th win last season as the women's coach and during his career as seen countless players named to the MAAC All-Academic teams.

 

In addition to his appointment as the head coach of the new men's team, the school announced that Daniel Malone has been appointed assistant coach of both the men's and women's swim teams.

 

Malone, 27, had been the Westlake High School boys and girls varsity swim team coach for the past three years.  The team was a five-way merger between Westlake, Briarcliff H.S., Pleasantville H.S., Valhalla H.S. and Byram Hills H.S.  Malone was an experienced collegiate swimmer, having been a member of the swim team at the University of Scranton, a three-time MACC conference finalist. 

 

He was graduated from Scranton with a degree in elementary education in May 2004 and he received a master's in childhood education from the College of New Rochelle.

 

He currently is an elementary school education at Hawthorne Elementary School in Hawthorne, N.Y.
