Riverdale, N.Y. (June 5, 2008) -- With his recent personal record triple jump of 15.85 meters achieved at the NCAA East Regional Track and Field Championships, Manhattan College senior Dexter Jules is in line to qualify for the United States Olympic Trials to be held in Eugene, Ore. beginning June 27. Already qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials is Manhattan alum Thomas "Jake" Freeman in the hammer throw.
"Dexter right now is ranked 16th in the triple jump and the top 24 triple jumpers in the nation are expected to qualify for the trials," said Dan Mecca, Manhattan College Track and Field Head Coach. "Jake is ranked third in the hammer throw, so he has qualified for a spot in the trials and hopefully will do well enough to mke the United State Olympic team."
Jules will be looking to improve his chances to qualify for the trials when he travels to Des Moine, Iowa June 11-14 to take part in the NCAA National Track and Field Finals. Joining Jules at the NCAA nationals will be teammate Paul Peulich, who will be competing in the hammer throw.
