RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? Former Jasper baseball standout Chris Cody '06 was selected South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week after posting a 0.60 ERA over two starts last week for the West Virginia Power, a Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Cody twirled 15 innings, allowed just one earned run, struck out 13, while yielding one walk. He picked up the win on Saturday in a 4-2 victory over Lexington.
Cody, a left-hander from Brewster, N.Y., has allowed just three earned runs in 25 innings of action. He is a perfect 2-0 on the season, with 24 strikeouts and a 1.08 ERA.
Cody stands atop the Manhattan College record book in various categories including career strikeouts (295), wins (29) and complete games (19). Cody's most memorable collegiate win came in the Jaspers upset of Nebraska in the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
