Boston, Mass. (March 9, 2008) ? Manhattan College senior Milan Jotanovic won his third consecutive IC4A shot put championship Sunday, leading the Manhattan College men's track and field team to an overall fourth place finish in the prestigious IC4A meet.
Meanwhile, at the ECAC Women's Indoor Championships, the Lady Jaspers finished 34th overall, led by Marina Vojinovic who placed second in the women's shot put with a mark of 14.26.
On the men's side, Jotanovic didn't quite duplicate his Boston University 19.42m facility record set in 2006, but his toss of 18.94m on the meet's second day was good enough to take home his third IC4A meet shot put title. Teammate Rich Reuter, a senior, finished eighth in the event with 16.17m mark.
Also during the second day of the meet, the Jaspers got another strong performance from senior Dexter Jules in the triple jump, with his 15.53m leap placing him second in the event. Junior teammate Kosta Randjic finished fourth in the event with a mark of 15.24m and Jasper senior Denis Street jumped 13.84m to finish 21st. Other second day results included an 18th place finish by freshman Nick Estis in the 200M (22.25s).
The first day of the IC4As saw Jasper senior Paul Peulich finish second in the weight throw with a seasonal best 19.42m. Sophomore teammate Seid Mujanovic took fourth in the event with a personal best 18.99m
Also on day one, Street took eighth in the long jump with a mark of 6.98m and sophomore Milos Vuckovic ran a seasonal best 1:52.70 in the 800m.
Overall, 46 schools took part in the IC4A meet "so our fourth place finish we very, very impressive," said Manhattan Track and Field Head Coach Dan Mecca.
Over on the women's side in the ECACs at Reggie Lewis Track, in additon to Vojinovic's second place finish, the Lady Jaspers got an 11th place finish in the pole vault from senior Meredith Mante with a mark of 3.55m. Sophomore Malin Marmbrandt took 12th in the long jump with a leap of 5.41m and took 19th in the triple jump with a 11.44 mark.
Additionally, freshman Siri Fagerlund grabbed 18th in the 60m hurdlers in a time of 8.90s and sophomore Diane Torsell finished 27th in the 55m dash with a time of 7.92.
