JOTANOVIC MAKES SHOT PUT FINALS AT NCAA TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR

Sacramento, Calif. (June 8, 2006)-It wasn't anywhere near his season's best, but Milan Jotanovic's top mark of Friday evening's shot put qualifying round at the NCAA National Championships was good enough. In a 26-competitor field in which several throwers struggled to match their seed marks, Jotanovic threw 18.26m (59' 11") on his first attempt to earn the 12th, and final, spot in Saturday's finals.

Jotanovic, a sophomore, managed to qualify for the finals at the championship meet for the second consecutive year. The NCAA Indoor All-American will now have an opportunity to add NCAA Outdoor All-American honors to his resume.

Jotanovic's best mark of the outdoor season came at the MAAC Championships where he set a new meet record and school record with a throw of 19.30m (63' 4"). He also broke the 19.00-meter mark at the IC4A Outdoor Championships, where he won the title with a mark of 19.04m. He also claimed the IC4A Indoor Championship with a new school record of 19.42m (63' 7").

The shot put finals commence on Saturday, June 10 at 3:30 p.m. EST. Manhattan hammer thrower Paul Peulich has also qualified for the finals in his respective event. After finishing tenth in Wednesday's qualifying with a throw of 63.66m (208' 8"), Peulich is slated to compete in the hammer finals at 3:00 p.m. EST on Friday, June 9.
