Riverdale, N.Y. (May 2, 2006)-Coming off of their best performance marks of the current outdoor season, Manhattan sophomores
Dexter Jules and Jasmine Rogers made their way onto the MAAC Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Jules, who recently added a Penn Relays Championship to his resume, earned the title of MAAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Co-Performer of the Week, while Rogers took home the women's version of that accolade.
Naming co-recipients of the award on both the men's and women's side in the same week has not been a common occurrence this spring, but it has been common for Jules to be a weekly honoree. The sophomore triple jumper has now received recognition four times, spanning the indoor and outdoor seasons.
At the Penn Relays this past Saturday, Jules won the Men's Triple Jump Championship, beating out a highly competitive field to do so. His winning mark of 15.67m (51' 5") bested the mark of runner-up Kyle Jenkins of Indiana University by 16 centimeters.
At Yale's Springtime Invitational, Rogers returned to her form of a year ago when she was named the Performer of the Meet for running events at the 2005 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Competing in the 100m hurdles at Yale, Rogers claimed first place with a time of 14.37s. She also earned a third-place finish in the 100m dash with another season-best mark of 12.44 seconds.
Rogers shares her award with Jazmine Fenlator of Rider University, while Jules is a co-honoree on the emn's side along with Marist's Justin Harris. This upcoming weekend, however, there will be no sharing between the parties as the MAAC Outdoor Championship will be up for grabs. Manhattan goes for its tenth straight team crown on the men's side, while the Lady Jaspers try to make it nine out of the last ten.
