TRACK AND FIELD ADDS PERSSON TO LIST OF SIGNEES

Riverdale, N.Y. (October 5, 2006)-Magnus Ahlen, Rajne Svenssohn, and most recently Anders Constantin have all completed successful careers with Jasper Track and Field after coming to Manhattan from their native land of Sweden. With two Swedish athletes already scheduled to join the program in December and follow in the footsteps of the aforementioned athletes, head coach Dan Mecca has added a third signee to Manhattan's roster, Sofie Persson.

Persson joins female triple jumper and hurdler Malin Marmbrandt and male distance runner Tobias Lundgren as Swedish athletes who will begin competing for Manhattan once the current fall semester comes to a close.

Persson possesses the ability to make a major and immediate impact for the Lady Jaspers in the sprints. Her recent time of 54.45s in the 400m, which she ran at an invitational meet in Mannheim, Germany this past July, would make her the top seed at the conference championship meet if it were to begin today.

In addition to her tremendous sprinting ability, she also carries experience of running in large-scale meets such as the 2006 World Junior Championships, where she advanced to the semi-finals in the 400m. Also, her top 200m time of 24.65 would have won the 2006 MAAC Indoor title with over a second to spare.

Manhattan Track and Field begins its indoor season on December 1 with the annual Manhattan Opener.
