Sacramento, CA (June 10, 2005)- Freshman Milan Jotanovic finished 12th in the finals of the NCAA shot put competition tonight in Sacramento. Jotanovic threw 17.71 meters before committing two fouls in his final two throws.
The Manhattan record-holder in the shot put, Jotanovic qualified with a throw of 18.30 meters, after being ranked 13th in the nation in the competition entering the meet. Auburn's Edis Elkasevic ultimately captured first in the competition with his throw of 20.88 meters.
Manhattan has now completed the outdoor season, as the team had three student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships (Jotanovic and hammer throwers
Michael Freeman and
Anders Constantin). When Freeman and Constantin qualified for the NCAA Championships, it was the 17th time under head coach
Dan Mecca that at least one hammer thrower had qualified for the NCAA Championships.
