RIZZOTTI NAMED MAAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Riverdale, NY (March 21, 2005)- Manhattan freshman first baseman Matt Rizzotti has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 20, it was announced today by the conference office. This is the second consecutive week Rizzotti has received this award.

Rizzotti batted .353 to help lead Manhattan to a pair of wins, including a 10-3 win over Florida International, a team that has won series this season with Big East members St. John's and Rutgers. Rizzotti tallied a team-leading 10 total bases, and belted a home run, with four RBI and four runs scored, while not committing an error in the field. Rizzotti currently leads Manhattan in batting average (.442), hits (23), doubles (five), and total bases (34). He has also recorded two round trippers and 10 RBI without committing an error at first base.

Manhattan is currently 5-8 and return to action this weekend, when the Jaspers open up MAAC play with a three-game series at Saint Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ. The two teams will play a twin bill on Saturday, March 26, beginning at 12 noon, and conclude the series with a single game on Monday, March 28, also beginning at 12 noon.
