New York, NY (January 7, 2005)- The Jaspers traveled to the New York Armory today to complete the two-day Fordham Invitational. Sophomore Christano Johnson competed at his first indoor competition and finished first in the High Jump qualifying for the IC4A Championships with his vertical jump of 2.14m. Johnson is only the third athlete at Manhattan to ever jump over seven feet.
Also qualifying for the IC4A's in the field events are junior
Anders Constantin and sophomore
Nick Newman. Constantin qualified in the Shot Put throwing the shot 15.75m. This is the second time this season Constantin has qualified. Newman leaped 7.20m, .12m further then last weeks qualifying jump.
Senior
Matt Reilly and junior
Todd Raymond ran the Mile coming in first and second qualifying themselves for the IC4A's. Raymond beat Reilly by .67 seconds finishing in a time of 4:13.11. Reilly finished in 4:13.78. Senior Nils Petterson placed second in the Pole Vault after his vault of 4.41m.
On the women's side junior Jenna Daly captured first place in the Pole Vault with her vault of 3.50m. Junior
Jessica Jansson finished behind Daly with a vault of 2.74m. Freshman Jasmine Rogers competed in the 60m Hurdles finishing in first place with a time of 8.78 seconds. In the High Jump, freshman Caitlyn Kjolhede placed first with a vertical jump of 1.63m. Junior Marina Liander finished second in the Shot Put throwing 13.38m. Also, grabbing a second place finish was junior Ginine Lucarello. Lucarello finished the 3000m in 11:03.49.
The Jaspers compete again on Saturday, January 15 at West Point Invitational in West Point, NY at 11 a.m.
