Mike Parisi, who was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft following his junior season at Manhattan, was named the New York-Penn League pitcher of the week, after two stellar performances on the hill last week.
Parisi, pitching for the New Jersey Cardinals, went 2-0 last week, including his first professional win. Against the Staten Island Yankees on July 13, Parisi went six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks in a 6-3 win. He backed up that performance on his next turn in the rotation, going seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits, striking out six with just one walk in a 4-1 win over Aberdeen. On the week, he
posted a 2.08 ERA while holding opposing batters to just a .178 batting average.
On the season, Parisi has posted a 2-2 record with a 4.81 ERA in 24.1 innings of work. He has made five appearances, all starts, and has struck out 16 batters. The Cardinals are 15-16 and stand in fourth place in the Mcnamara Division.
