WOMEN'S LACROSSE DROPS TO LE MOYNE, 16-14

Syracuse, NY (April 24, 2004)-The Lady Jaspers fell to the MAAC's first place team Le Moyne in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game, 16-14. Lauren Civardi and Victoria Carman each tallied four goals for Manhattan. With the loss Manhattan drops to a 9-7 overall record and a 3-3 MAAC record, while Le Moyne improves to 10-4 and 4-1 in the MAAC.

Manhattan started the scoring again 1:28 into the game off a free position shot giving Manhattan a one goal lead. Throughout the entire game the scoring went went back and forth between teams. At the end of the first half the Dolphins had a one goal lead after they scored off a free position shot.

Less than eight minutes into the second half and Le Moyne up, 9-8, Civardi scored to tie the game 9-9. The Dolphin's answered back less than a minute later taking a 10-9 lead. The score went back and forth again until Manhattan took a 13-12 lead off a goal by Molly Pheterson who was assisted by Jami Carter. Carman scored the last goal for Manhattan giving them a 14-12 lead over the Dolphins with 8:51 left to play. Le Moyne then went on a scoring streak scoring four goals in the final five minutes.

Lady Jasper Ashley Devins made nine saves for Manhattan while Le Moyne's Erica Henderson stopped 10 shots.

This concludes the Lady Jaspers regular season schedule. Manhattan must wait until tomorrow to see if they will be traveling to Buffalo, NY on Friday, April 30 to play in the Semi-final MAAC Championship game.
