Troy, NY (March 6, 2004) - Lady Jasper
Mary Dudek scored four goals, including the
game-winner with 3:13 remaining, to lift the Lady Jaspers to a 10-9 win over
Vermont in Division I women's lacrosse action Saturday at Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute.
Vermont, 0-2, had a 7-5 lead at the half before Manhattan, 1-1, scored three
quick goals to open the second half and take an 8-7 lead. The Catamounts tied
it at 8-8, then the teams traded goals again to make it 9-9 before Dudek scored
her fourth goal of the game off an 8-meter free position.
For Manhattan, Dudek led the way with four goals, while Molly Pheterson and
Nora Jacquette each scored twice. Jenny Carman and Victoria Carman also scored
for the winners, and Jacquette recorded an assist. In goal, Vermont's Kate
McBride had 12 saves while Ashley Devins had 11 for Manhattan.
Vanessa Cox had a goal and two assists for the Catamounts, while Sara Talbot and Becky Kenison each had two goals. Erin Hall, Katie Sobocinski each had a goal and an assist, while Christen Faltermeier and Ashleigh Wilson had a goal and Sarah Booker contributed an assist.
Manhattan plays its home opener on Wednesday, March 10 at 4pm at Gaelic Park against Columbia University.
