Riverdale, NY (March 28, 2004) - Manhattan women's lacrosse team fell to Longwood University, 12-7, today at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY. The loss drops Manhattan to a 3-4 overall record and Longwood improves to 7-0.
Longwood scored the first two goals of the game within the first four minutes. Carlee Ullery scored an unassisted goal less than a minute before teammate Leanne Kibler scored off a pass from Kristy Taylor. Lady Jasper
Nora Jacquette opened the scoring for Manhattan off a free position shot decreasing the Lady Lancers lead 2-1. Longwood would increase their lead to 5-1 before Manhattan's
Molly Pheterson connected with Jacquette making the score, 5-2.
Catherine Dunbar decreased the Lancer's lead to only two goals after she scored off a free position shot. The Lady Lancers scored three more goals before
Jamie Carter scored an unassisted goal with less than two minutes to play in the half. At the end of the half the score was 9-4.
Manhattan got the second half started right keeping the Lady Lancers from scoring until the 21st minute. The Lady J's also picked up the first two goals of the half.
Lauren Civardi grabbed the first goal and
Mary Dudek grabbed the second goal decreasing the Lancer's lead to only three goals.
That was as close as Manhattan would get to tying the game as Isa Cohen scored two goals in a row for Longwood increasing their lead to 11-6. Manhattan's last goal would come in the final six minutes when Civardi scored off a free position shot. Longwood's Ali Schafer finished the scoring with under four minutes to play making the final score 12-7.

Ashley Devins had 11 saves for the Lady J's, while Longwood goalkeepers Stacey Schmidt and Emily Wilson split the saves down the middle each earning four.
The Lady Jaspers play again on Wednesday, March 31 when they host LIU (Brooklyn) at 3:30 pm.
