NEW YORK, NY (March 1, 2003) - The Manhattan College women's lacrosse team dropped its second game of the season this afternoon to Columbia University 11-2. The Lady Jaspers fall to 0-2 overall, while the Lions begin their season 1-0.
Columbia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of play before a pass by junior
Mary Dudek (Pearl River, NY) to sophomore
Jamie Carter (Williston Park, NY) at the 11:25 mark brought the Lady J's to within one. However, the Lions would go on to score six more goals to end the first half 8-1.
After the break, Columbia continued to dominate the game scoring three more goals before Dudek found an opening at the 49:50 mark to score Manhattan's second goal. Despite 11 saves by sophomore goalkeeper
Israpon Pananon (Burtonsville, MD), the Lions would win the game 11-2.
Columbia was led by Adie Moll, who totaled four goals in today's victory.
Manhattan will return to action on Saturday, March 15th when they face Long Island University (Brooklyn) at 12 noon.
